Jerry Koering is a native of Stanwood, IA, and a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, IA, where he majored in Business Management, and was a multiple year letter winner for the Norse basketball team. Upon his graduation from Luther in the spring of 2004, Jerry’s working career started for Target Corporation, where he was an Executive Team Lead in Target’s Owatonna, MN store.

In the spring of 2005 Jerry moved to Denver, CO where he accepted a position as a Regional Sales Representative for MetLife’s Small Market Institutional Sales Organization. Here, Jerry worked with the broker and consultant community to represent MetLife’s suite of employee benefit products to groups between 2 and 500 employees. During his career with MetLife Jerry worked in multiple geographic areas as he successfully developed each of his sales territories. Starting in Northern Colorado and Wyoming, Jerry’s sales territory quickly grew to include opportunities in Utah, including important relationships in Salt Lake City, and then continued to grow into the Denver metropolitan area.

As Jerry’s responsibilities with MetLife grew, he continually proved up to the challenge, and as a result of his relentless work ethic and high level of customer service, was twice named as a qualifier for MetLife’s elite “Leader’s Conference,” an annual trip held to recognize the most successful leaders within MetLife’s sales organization.

In the Summer of 2009, Jerry decided to use the experiences of working with the vast array of broker and consulting organizations during his MetLife career and start his own agency. So it was then that he and his wife Brandi packed up and moved back home to Iowa where Jerry, along with Justin Pieper, became a founding partner of Group Benefit Partners in Fort Madison. In addition to growing the new agency (and his family, with sons Kian and Westen), Jerry has been active in multiple community endeavors, including his time as President of the Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Club, the United Way Board of Directors, and the Board of Directors of the Quincy, IL chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management.
